Obituary

CHICOPEE – Josephine (Lomako) Sulenski, 98, a resident of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, May 12, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life tragically from the Covid-19 Virus at Day Brook Village in Holyoke surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born at home on Blanchard Street in Chicopee on September 18, 1921, a beloved daughter of the late Anthony and Stanislawa (Wysomierska) Lomako. She was raised and educated in Chicopee and had moved to Holyoke in 1946 before moving to Fairview in 1981. She was employed as a machine operator at the former Scott Graphics in Holyoke and later in South Hadley. During the war, she had worked at Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee. She was a communicant of the former Mater Dolorosa Church in Holyoke and currently was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. During her leisure time, she enjoyed cooking and sewing. She was known to be a jack of all trades and was very handy around her home. Proud of her Polish heritage, she loved listening to Polish music and dancing. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Albert J. Sulenski who died in January of 1979. They were married at Mater Dolorosa Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 32 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving daughter and son-in-law, Carol A. Sabourin and her husband, Richard, of Chicopee; her loving son, Albert Sulenski and his companion, Ronnie, of Bedford Hills, New York; her three cherished granddaughters, Heather Cirello and her husband, Chris, of Hamilton, Heidi Couture and her husband, Brad, of Belchertown and Holly Sabourin and her husband, Jeremy Wotton, of San Francisco, California; her five cherished great-grandchildren, Hannah and Caroline Cirello, Natalie and Noah Couture and Liam Wotton; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended members of the Sulenski and Lomako families and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her dear brother, Tony Lomaki; and her two dear sisters and brother-in-law, Ann Rose and Mary Wojciechowski and her husband, Joseph. Due to the current circumstances, her funeral services will be private and her burial will be private at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in South Hadley. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date and time to be announced. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
