Tiverton, RI, Bonnie Mae (Conway) Braz, 77 died peacefully on Monday May 04, 2020 at Brookdale Sekonnet Bay, Tiverton, RI. She was Married to her husband husband Stephen for nearly 50 years, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Eloise (Flynn) Conway. Bonnie is warmly remembered by her husband Stephen J. Braz. Bonnie is remembered by her surviving sisters and brother, Barbara Hemmerling of Phoenix, AZ, Kevin and wife Janet Conway of, Lecanto, FL Laurie and husband Dr. Charles Potter of Reno, NV Mary Beth and husband Michael Henry of Batavia, IL Also two nieces: Kay Frederick and Shana and husband David Schmidt and nephew Mike and wife Christy Conway and brother-in law John J. and wife Eileen Braz.
As a Graduate of University of Illinois, in Urbana-Champaign, IL with a Batchers degree in Spanish followed by two years in Brazil in the Pease Corp., she returned to get a Masters in. Portuguese Bonnie was then employed by the New Bedford Public School systems as the Bilingual (ESL) teacher. While teaching Bonnie was invited to attend a new program at UMass Dartmouth, (SMU) Massachusetts where she received her second Master’s Degree in Bilingual, Bicultural Education.

Bonnie was a diligent and hard working in her lesson plans. She spent many evening creating lesson to help the non-English speaking students learn to speak, read and write English.
Bonnie was socially active in greater New Bedford area, she was active with the former N.B. Jayceettes as chapter President and regional director, awarded a Congress women in the international organization and The Delta Kappa Gamma Society ETA (local) chapter where she served four years as president. She was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, in appreciation for dedication and valuable service. Received 04/04/19
