Willis Wright Marchant, 83, of Tifton passed away Monday, May 11, 2020, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A private graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Marchant on Friday, May 15, 2020, at Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. Brother Mike Hasty and Elder Robert Tucker will officiate.
Born August 11, 1936 in Tift County, Mr. Marchant was the son of the late Artie Lee Marchant and Lula Willis Marchant. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Hazel Jeraldine Fowler Marchant, who passed away on April 26, 2020; two brothers; and five sisters. He graduated from Tifton High School and was an electrician by trade, but a farmer by heart. He was a lifelong member of Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church.
Mr. Marchant is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Willis Jr. and Kathy Marchant, Ken and Dawn Marchant and Art Marchant, all of Tifton; one brother, Billy Marchant of Tifton; one sister, Merle Perryman of Sylvester; three grandchildren, Ryan Marchant, Blake Marchant and Brady Marchant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
