Dorothy V. (Arruda) Estrella, 80, of Westport, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Edward Estrella, Sr.
Mrs. Estrella was born in Tiverton, daughter of the late Manuel and Dorothy (Mello) Arruda and had resided in Westport since 1972. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the former Quaker Fabric plant in Fall River for over 26 years. She later went on to work at the President Avenue McDonald's in Fall River until her retirement in 2019, just before her 80th birthday. She made many friends while working there and was affectionately known as "Grandma" by her coworkers. She was a communicant of St. George Church, Westport. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her 2 sons: Edward Estrella, Jr. and his wife Susan of Westport and John Casper and his companion Judy of Fall River; her 4 daughters: Dawn M. Estrella and her companion Kevin of Westport, Gail M. Lopes and her husband David of Dartmouth and Pauline Ormston of Fall River; 2 brothers: Joseph Arruda of Attleboro and Francis Arruda of Westport; 2 sisters: Margaret Borges of Assonet and Marie Anne Raposa of Tiverton; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; her companion: Arthur Hancock; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Cheryl Kingman and Mary St. Amour, grandmother of the late Barry Tripp, Jr. and sister of the late William Arruda, George Arruda, Manuel Arruda, Thomas Arruda, John Arruda, Alfred Arruda, Geraldine Coppinger and Deborah Arruda.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date.
