Mary Elizabeth (Dennison) Gay passed away, at the age of 96, on Saturday, April 25,2020 at the Alliance Health at Baldwinville Nursing Facility in Baldwinville, Massachusetts. She was born on February 8, 1924 in Hartford, Connecticut
to James and Sarah (Pickett) Dennison. She was a graduate of Hartford High School.
She married Norman (Don) MacDonald Gay, Jr. on February 22, 1945 and lived in Wethersfield, Connecticut for 25 years where she had three children and was a news reporter for The Hartford Times.
Mary and Don had many fond memories of boating adventures with lots of friends. She also loved playing bridge, singing, playing the organ, and bowling.
She and Don semi-retired to Florida in 1973 where she worked different jobs in sales. In 1981, they moved to Massachusetts where she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Shortly after losing the love of her life, (N. Don), Mary moved to Cape Cod for 16 years where she enjoyed being near the water, near some of her long-time friends and new friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother and her father, her step-brother, her husband, and her son Thomas MacDonald Gay. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Davis and her husband Ed, and Donna Sunderland and husband Bob; granddaughter Aimee Smith with her husband Bobby and their daughters Sarah and Ashley Bailey and son Cody Bailey; grandson Jamie Sunderland, his wife Julie and their sons Gavin and Miles Sunderland; grandson Greg Sunderland and his wife Jessica; granddaughter Heidi Starett; and granddaughter Selina (Gay) Main.
The Funeral will be Private, attended by immediate family at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.
