TEWKSBUR – William James Bohannon, age 79, a Vietnam Era veteran and resident of the Flucker Heights Community in Tewksbury since 2016, died Thursday evening, May 7, at Lowell General Hospital from complications of the Covid-19 Virus. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy F. (Wilkes) Bohannon, with whom he had celebrated forty-years together last April.
Bill was born in Everett, a son of Edmund and Louise (Booth) Bohannon, raised in Malden and Melrose, and graduated from Revere High School.
He enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1961, and served in Germany for three years. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army in 1963, he travelled to Paris, France, and enrolled in a Culinary College. With a French Culinary Degree, he returned to America and travelled across the U.S. as a Chef. He held several prestigious positions, including Chef at Boston’s historical Dinty Moore’s Hickory House, Florida’s famous Top Of The Home restaurant in Hollywood, and the Michigan Golf Club. He settled down in Lynn and Salem, married Dorothy, changed careers and earned a degree as a Medical Device Draftsman. He retired from Arrow International in Everett, as a draftsman producing Specialized Medical Equipment.
He leaves three daughters, Michelle (King) Wilkins, Patricia (King) Green and her husband Michael, Suzanne (King) Bowman all of Derry, NH; five grandchildren, Michael Reed and his spouse Amanda Ford of Rochester, NH, Richard Reed, Jennifer Reed both of Lynn, Jonathan Burligame of Palmer, Samantha Bowman of Derry, NH, Nicholas Sherman, and Christopher King both of Sutton; many great grandchildren; a sister, Rosemary Agri of Haverhill; many nieces and nephews; his neighbor and friend Marie Russo of Tewksbury; his prized pets, Ming Lee Wong, Baxter B, and Molly; and was predeceased by his brother Robert Bohannon.
