CHICOPEE – Kathleen E. “Kitch” (Litwin) Collins, 75, a longtime resident of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life tragically from the Covid-19 Virus at Vero Health and Rehab at South Hadley surrounded by all of the memories that she loved and cherished. She was born in Holyoke on December 31, 1944, a beloved daughter of the late Stanley E. Litwin, Sr. and Stella B. (Chliszczyk) Litwin. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and lived most of her life in Chicopee. She was employed for 20 years as a Senior Clerk and Proofreader for Dow Jones and Company in Chicopee. She was an active volunteer of the Saint Anne Athletic Association in Chicopee and was an active Cub Scout Leader. During her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling locally and abroad, cooking and sewing clothing for her children. She also enjoyed trying her luck at many local bingo games and was the "World's Best" Scrabble player. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Thomas P. “Tommy” Collins, Jr. They were married on December 29, 1962 at Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 54 years of happiness together. She leaves her three loving children, Kimberly A. Collins and her wife, Marina C. Shrady, of Stamford, CT; Thomas P. Collins III and his wife, Anna, of West Springfield and Claudine M. Collins and her husband, Brian Dibble, of Princeton, NJ; her five cherished granddaughters, Natalie, Nadia and Nicole Collins and Lena and Arianna Dibble; her two dear brothers, Richard Litwin and his wife, Faith, of Old Orchard, ME and John “Jack” Litwin and his wife, Diane, of Georgia; her three dear sisters, Dorothy Densmore, Patricia Zak and Sandra Besaw and her husband, William, all of Chicopee; her two dear sisters-in-law, Terry Sullivan of Washington and Sandra M. "Sandy" Litwin of North Myrtle Beach, SC; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended members of the Collins and Litwin families and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her two dear brothers, Robert Litwin who served in the U.S. Army and died in the Vietnam War and Stanley E. “Stas” Litwin, Jr.; and her two dear brothers-in-law, Loren “Red” Densmore and Walter Zak. Due to the current circumstances, her funeral services and burial will be private. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
