Obituary

WORCESTER - Mr. Martin Calderon, 87, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at St Vincent Hospital.

Martin was born on November 19, 1932 in Higuey, Dominican Republic the son of the late Rufino and Emerinda (Avila) Calderon.

Martin came to the United States in 1990, eventually settling in Worcester with his family. He loved spending time with his family and his favorite moments was to cook for the family on Sundays.

He was an avid Dominos player with a competitive heart.

Martin is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Julia DePena, a son, Ramon Avila and his wife Marylin Santana, four daughters, Doribel Avila and her husband Efraim Cedano, Luz Avila and her husband Gilberto Sarmiento, Paula Avila and her husband Luis Gonzalez, and Nuris Guilamo and her husband Clemente Guilamo; he also leaves nine grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral took place on Thursday, May 7th. Interment was in Hope Cemetery. Due to the health crisis and government restrictions, his services were held privately.
