Obituary

Walter T. Morin, 68, of Worcester died Tuesday, May 5th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. He leaves his wife of 43 years, Wendy (Briggs) Morin; his children, Dahnina Diaz and her husband, Luis of Worcester, Robert Morin of Broken Bow, NE, Marc Morin and his fiancé, Dawn, Jacques Morin and his fiancé, Kelleigh all of Worcester; a brother, John M. Morin, Jr. of Brownsburg, Indiana and his aunt, Helen Busch of Grafton. He also leaves a large extended family, including 19 grandchildren, several brothers and sisters in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was born in Worcester the son of John M. Morin, Sr. and Sophie T. (Sawicki) Morin and graduated from Becker College. Walter retired from the Stetson School in Barre where he worked for many years as a residential counselor. Walter was passionate about working with at-risk and developmentally disabled youth. Prior to working at Stetson School he had many short careers, working for Big Discount Supermarket, Beacon Management Company at Plumley Village, the Nazareth Home for Boys, Seven Hills Foundation, L. Farber Company and L. Hardy Company. He was formerly a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Church. Walter was also proud to have served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War.
For many years, Walter was a dedicated coach with several area youth baseball leagues including O’Brien Little League, Jesse Burkett Little League, West Side Babe Ruth, Leicester Babe Ruth, as well as coaching at Algonquin High School and Becker College. In his younger years, Walter enjoyed participating in the local candlepin bowling league and organizing and playing in various softball leagues throughout the Worcester area. He was a member of the Auburn Knights of Columbus and the Tatnuck American Legion Post 288. Walter spent many vacations fishing with his friends in Maine and, recently, became an avid collector and seller of vintage items. Walter took great pride in everything he did, giving it his all. He was a proud father and grandfather. He will be missed.
Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is assisting the family with arrangements.
