Jose G. Martins, 73, died at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Thursday, February 16 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Maria (Coelho) Martins. Born in Flores, Azores, Portugal, he was educated in Flores and Faial schools, attended the University of Lisbon in Portugal and received his Associates Degree from Massasoit Community College in Brockton. He moved to Stoughton in 1970. Mr. Martins was a factory worker at Power General and was also self-employed. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Martins is survived by his daughter, Maria J. Walsh of Canton, his granddaughter, Laura Rose Walsh, his brothers, Antonio Martins of FL and Helder Martins of Stoughton and his sister, Maria Eduardo of Stoughton.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, February 21 at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:15 AM. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
