Maria Gomes (89) of Brockton died May 5th at home under hospice care surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Francisco Resende.
She was born in Mosteiros, Fogo, Cabo Verde, daughter of the late Hirondina Mendes Gomes and Jaine Alves. Maria was a communicant of St. Edith Stein Church and loved cooking and socializing with family and friends.
Maria is survived by 4 sons, Luis, Domingos, Filipe and Celestino Resende all of Brockton, 3 daughters, Joaquina, Fatima and Ruth Resende all of Brockton, (mother of the late Idilia and Fracisca Resende), many grandchildren, many great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to the COVID-19 State, National Mandate and for the Health and Safety of the Community, Services for Maria Gomes will be held privately at the family's convenience. Burial to follow in Melrose Cemetery.
