Billy Mitchell, 83, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at his residence.
Private graveside services will be held.
Mr. Mitchell was born April 11, 1937, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late James Ed & Minnie Dell Owens Mitchell. He was a hard-worker and worked all of his life. He was a farmer and truck driver. He worked as a welder for United Farm Tools as well as Pearman Corporation in Chula. He loved to fish and spent many hours on Lake Eufaula.
He is survived by his children: Allen Mitchell & Sheila Reed of Rebecca, Willie Mitchell & Donna Snead of Rebecca, Calvin Mitchell of Rochelle and Connie M. Featherston & husband Chad of Sylvester; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles & Sue Mitchell of Irwinville; and four sisters: Myra Dorrity of Irwinville, Nell Stephens of Irwinville, Minnie Cleveland of Tifton, and Ann & Jimmy Holloway of Tifton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Estelle Black Mitchell; a daughter, Debra Sue Hall; a great-grandson, Jackson Cotterman; and siblings: Jimmy T. “Buddy” Mitchell, Ruby Fogarty, James Ed “Junior” Mitchell, J.W. Mitchell, and Curtis Lee Mitchell.
