Obituary

Colleen Marie (Simmons) Lavino
April 27, 2020

Tewksbury – Colleen Marie (Simmons) Lavino, a very strong and brave woman who enjoyed life with a big amazing smile on her face, big beautiful sparkly blue eyes and a song always in her heart died on Monday morning, April 27th after a courageous battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. She was 47.

Colleen was born in Boston on September 2, 1972 to (the late) John Joseph Simmons Jr and Geraldine Patricia (Fahy) Simmons. Colleen was one of 7 children: Michele Simmons, Cheryl Woodward, Lynn Krisko, (the late) John Joseph Simmons III, Paula Ramsey, and John William Simmons.

Colleen grew up in Malden, MA. She graduated from Pope John XXIII High School in Everett and continued her education at Hesser College. After completing her degree in Criminal Justice, Colleen started the next chapter of her life by having 3 beautiful children: Darien Julia, Megan Noel, and Nicholas John. Moving from Malden to Tewksbury, Colleen worked at TLC Laser Eye Center as a Sr. Surgical Consultant leading the team in proper protocol for a great patient experience for 12 years.

When Colleen was not working she loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and so much more. She enjoyed cooking, laughing, singing, dancing, and most importantly spending time with her three children. Her children meant everything to her and she spent as much time as possible with them whether it be supporting their athletic careers or even just hanging out with them at the house. She taught them so much about life, about themselves, about family being everything. She taught them never to settle for anything less than their dreams and goals. She will be with them every step of the way as they pursue their dreams and goals.

Colleen has touched the lives of so many people in such positive ways. Her strength is something that everyone admired about her. She left this earth leaving behind such positive memories that will be cherished forever.

She will truly be missed but will live on in each of us.

Colleen would not want us to mourn but to celebrate her life with us, therefore, a Celebration of Life will take place at a later time.

Donations in Colleen’s honor can be made to Dana Farber.
