Mateus Garcia DeBarros (84) of Brockton died May 1st in the Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Isabel (Lopes) Martins of Brockton.
He was born in Mosteiros, Fogo, Cabo Verde, son of the late Ana Gomes and Avelino DeBarros. Mateus worked in the sand and gravel industry as a machine operator. He was a communicant of St. Edith Stein Church and loved playing cards, watching all sports especially soccer.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 sons, Avelino DeBarros of Brockton and Jose Antonio Lopes of Praia, Cabo Verde, 3 daughters, Ana DeBarros and Margie DeBarros both of Florida, Denissa DeBarros of New Bedford, (father of the late Antonio DeBarros), 2 sisters, Alina DeBarros of Brockton and Inacia DeBarros of Boston, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Due to the COVID-19 State, National Mandate and for the Health and Safety of the Community, Services for Mateus DeBarros will be held privately at the family's convenience. Burial to follow in Melrose Cemetery.
