Obituary

Worcester- Angevin Rivera, 76, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 1, 2020 surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He leaves his wife of 47 years Lydia E. (Bermudez) Rivera; 2 daughters- Wanda Y. Rivera and Carolyn E. Calderon; a son- Angevin Rivera II; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a sister Carmen Melendez; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Oscar Rivera.

Angevin was born in Manati, Puerto Rico, son of the late Francisco and Amelia (Rosario) Rivera. He worked for many years as a machinist at the Worcester Envelope Company. He enjoyed doing word puzzles, scratch tickets, working in his yard and watching his two youngest granddaughters.


The family would like to say thank you to all of the Umass doctors and nurses who were very attentive and compassionate during Angevin's illness- especially Dr. Nahida Islam Hematology/Oncology, Dr. Paul Rava Radiation Oncology and Deborah Maddox, Rn Lung Cancer Team.


Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2020 from 5-7 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2020 from 9-11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Flowers may be sent or donations in Angevin's memory may be made to UMASS Cancer Research. Nordgren Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
