Debra Giles King, 48, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at her home. A private graveside funeral service will be held for Debra on Thursday, May 7, 2020, at Akridge Cemetery in Mitchell County, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Chip Grantham will officiate.
Born February 19, 1972 in Albany, Debra was the daughter of Eleanor Akridge Giles of Tifton and the late Emory E. Giles. She graduated from Tift County High School in 1990 and attended ABAC and Georgia Southern, studying biology. She received a certificate in medical billing and coding from Moultrie Tech.
In both high school and at ABAC, she was very active in choir and show choir. She participated in Tifton’s community theater program in the late 1980s. As a youth at First Methodist, she was very active in youth programs, including youth choir and became a youth counselor during college.
Working in various sales roles, Debra was well-known for her salesmanship and for looking after her customers.
Beloved by her friends and family, including her beloved son Ryan, Debra had a wicked wit, humor, creativity and a sense of adventure. Her talent for naming pets, both her own and other people’s, was unparalleled.
She will be deeply missed.
In addition to her mother, Debra is survived by her son, Ryan Thomas King of Tifton; and one sister, Sandra Giles of Tifton.
