Dale Lavern Nye, 85, of Anderson, died April 19, 2020 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus after a brief illness.
Dale was born May 28, 1934 in Marion, Iowa, to Vernon W. and Ocy Irene (Miller) Nye.
He lived with sisters Lois Marie and Darlene Alverna until leaving for Anderson College in the fall of 1952, majoring in Bible and art. There he met Dorothy Smith and were married August 8, 1953.
He served in the United States Army at Fort Bliss, Texas from 1955-1957 and was an instructor of the Corporal Missile.
Dale assisted his father in pastoring the church in Cairo, IL, before accepting the call to pastor the Church of God in Blue Mound, Illinois, while pastoring, he worked as a designer for Bekenmar Church Furniture Company.
Returning to Anderson, to further ministerial studies, he was employed with Henry B. Steag, Indianapolis. On June 1, 1973, while inspecting a job site, he was involved in an electrical accident receiving 7200 volts of electric current. People prayed, and Dale lived.
Dale was an ordained minister, gifted artist and loving husband, father and grandfather.
While rehabilitating at Bethany Pointe Health Campus, Dale died of complications from Covid-19, April 19, 2020.
Left to love and honor his memory are his wife, Dorothy J. (Smith) Nye, daughter, Nancy Lynn (Larry) Spasic; son, Jeffery Dale Nye (Nancy Dobbs); two grandsons, Ryan Michael and Robert Allen; sister, Lois Roberts, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Darlene Jeffries.
A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. at East Maplewood Cemetery on Friday, August 7, 2020.
Memorial gifts may be given to Park Place Church of God or Anderson University.
