CHICOPEE β Jeannette (Thibodeau) Roy, 95, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, April 27, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Agawam Healthcare. She was born in her childhood home on Hope Street in the Willimansett section of Chicopee on January 7, 1925, a beloved daughter of the late Simon and Stella (Morency) Thibodeau. She was raised in Chicopee, attended Mount Carmel Elementary School and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was previously employed for over 40 years at the former A. G. Spalding Company in Willimansett. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed cooking and baking. She was an avid walker often seen throughout Aldenville at many of the local businesses. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee where she was a longtime volunteer at their Bingo of which she also loved to play. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family and her many dear friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alphonse βAlβ Roy who was Called Home on April 14, 2017. They were married on May 30, 1942 at the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 74 years of happiness together. She leaves her three loving daughters, Arleen E. Merritt and her husband, James, of Elgin, IL, Jeanne C. Tassone and her husband, Salvatore, of Agawam and Lorraine C. Surette of Granby, MA; her five cherished grandchildren, Lisa Tassone and her wife, Breeanne Carroll, Anthony Tassone and his wife, Maria, Marc Tassone, Jeffrey Surette and Lee Surette; her five cherished great-grandsons, Patrick, Brady, Salvatore, Nicolas and Dominic Tassone; and her many dear nephews, nieces, friends and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her loving son-in-law, John A. Surette, Jr.; her dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and several step-brothers and step-sisters in Canada. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, a private Committal Service will be held at Sainte Rose Cemetery in Chicopee with a Memorial Mass to be announced at a later date at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee.
