Marie J. (McLaughlin) Church, 89, formerly of Franklin, died April 27 in the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, Wrentham.
Born in Boston, November 21, 1930, the daughter of the late Arthur V. and Elsie (Tabor) McLaughlin.
Marie was a dedicated, committed and socially responsible nurse for over 40 years. She showed great care and compassion for her patients. Always dedicated and hardworking. She passed her strong sense of responsibility and work ethic to her daughters. Family would often joke and knew what was meant about being a “Church Woman.”
She was an avid and adventurous cook before it was popular, known for her Chinese, Italian, and French dishes. Our Mom showed her love of family and life through her cooking and brought pleasure by sharing her gift; you knew she liked you, if she cooked for you.
She also found great pleasure in shopping. She was always thinking of others and what they might need. She loved the challenge and hunt to find a bargain. You could always count on our Mom to come to a family gathering with bags of gifts and food for an army.
She was well respected and loved by her family, professional colleagues and friends.
She will be greatly missed.
Marie is survived by her daughters, Barbara Gonzalez and her partner Brian Goulette of North Attleboro, and Maureen and her husband Jon Simons of Middletown, New Jersey.
She was the mother of the late Cynthia Lutkevich and is also survived by her son-in-law Robert Lutkevich of Tewksbury.
She is also survived by her Grandchildren: Joshua and Judith Engle of Texas, Heather and Mark Simoni of New Windsor, New York, Christopher and Amy Lutkevich of Tewksbury, Melissa Engle and David Wright of Mansfield, Joe Gonzalez of North Attleboro and Justin Gonzalez of Nashua, New Hampshire, and her step-grandchildren, Emily and Abigail Simons of Middletown, New Jersey.
Marie was also great grandmother to 10.
She is also survived by her niece Tish Reilly of Needham
A memorial service to celebrate Marie’s life will be held at a later time.
