Dorothy Davis Coalson, 83, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Monday, April 27, 2020, at her residence.
Private services will be held.
Mrs. Coalson was born May 19, 1936, in Irwin County, Georgia to the late Harmon Columbus & Mary Elizabeth Moore Davis. She was raised in Irwin County and returned to live in Ocilla, after her retirement in 1998. She graduated from Irwin County High School in 1955 and later attended business college in Atlanta. Mrs. Coalson was employed with Hartford Insurance Company retiring as a field office clerical supervisor. She will be remembered for her cheesecakes and pound cakes. Mrs. Coalson enjoyed painting with oils, crocheting afghans, sewing, and watching her grandchildren play baseball and cheer. She was a member of the Hand & Foot club and served as Secretary for the ICHS Class of 1955 up until her death. She was a member of the Ocilla United Methodist Church and the UMW.
She is survived by her children: Pledger Curtis “Curt” Coalson, Jr., Marilyn & Anthony Dove and Elizabeth & Walter Portier, all of Ocilla; grandchildren: Dennis & Emily Dove, Andrew & Katie Dove, Abby & Garrett Griffin, Trey & Alex Portier and Maribeth Portier; ten great grandchildren; a brother, Harmon Davis, Jr. & Gwen and two sisters: Mildred Cook and Linda Delaney & Del, all of Ocilla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pledger Curtis Coalson; a sister, Marilyn Davis and a brother, J. Harvey Davis.
