William J. Furey, Jr., 48, of New Bedford died Monday February 13, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the former husband of Kimberly (Kuykendall) Furey of Dartmouth.
Born in Brockton, the son of William J. and Marion E. (Damon) Furey of New Bedford, he lived in Dartmouth and New Bedford most of his life.
He was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church in North Dartmouth.
Mr. Furey was employed as a commercial fisherman for 29 years and served as captain on F/V Patriots and other vessels of the New Bedford fishing fleet.
Survivors include his former wife; his parents; 3 sons, William Furey, III, and his wife Christine , and Eric Furey, all of New Bedford and Derek Smith, and his wife Allyn, of North Carolina; a daughter, Kelly Azeredo of New Bedford; a brother, John Furey of Las Vegas; 6 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Saturday February 18, 2006 at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday February 17, 2006 from 4-8 PM.
