Kathleen M. (Fish) Bastow 60, of Franklin, passed away, unexpectedly, at her home Thursday April 23, 2020.
Born April 7, 1960, in Milford a daughter of Linda M. (Conley) Fish of Franklin and the late Dean S. Fish, she was a life long resident of Franklin.
She was raised and educated in Franklin, and was a graduate of Franklin High School Class of 1977. Kathie worked as a certified nursing assistant for the Pond Home in Wrentham, the Franklin Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation and later for many families in the area.
Kathie was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She enjoyed a good cup of coffee from Honey Dew Donuts and art projects with her grandchildren Annabelle and Luke.
When Kathie’s uncle learned of her passing he wrote this, "We are so very sad today, we learned late last night that our niece Kathie passed away very unexpectedly at her home. She had put herself in self-quarantine 2 weeks ago when she had learned that an individual in her apartment building had been diagnosed with the corona virus. Today she would have come out of quarantine and returned to work as her mother’s caregiver, while Linda remains quarantined in her Senior Living apt., and helping her daughter Laura with her 2 beloved grandchildren, Annabelle and Luke.
Kathie was also instrumental in taking care of her father’s needs while Dean was in the memory care unit at a local nursing home before his passing this past September. Kathie had a passion for caring for her family whenever they needed help. Her Gramma Conley, who Kathie was quite close to, was also a recipient of her compassion and care before her passing back in 2002.
Kathie was at heart a very caring and compassionate person. First and foremost, as the mother of her 2 daughters, Kristen and Laura, who were the lights of her life. But that was just the start – she went to work at various area nursing homes caring for the residents with kindness and compassionate, but firm care.
When my dad was nearing the end of his life she spent many hours with my mom caring for her grandfather, and then staying with my mom, Gramma Conley, after he passed. And, as her Dad’s mother’s health began to fail a few years back, Kathie spent time assisting Gramma Maggie.
We have no answers yet as to cause of death, we just know all of us; her mother, her three brothers, Dean Jr. and his wife Debbie, Dan and his wife Jean, Jim and his wife Beth and her sister Karen and her husband Dave; her 2 daughters Kristen and her partner Rob, and Laura, her husband Jay and their two children; her eight nieces and nephews; Allison, Alex, Courtney, Emily, Jessica, Jenna, Zachary and Kaitlyn, along with us, Uncle George and Aunt Linda will miss Kathie greatly. We know she is once again providing care to her Dad and Grampa and Gramma. We love you Kathie, Rest in Peace.
A Celebration of Kathie’s Life will be held at a later time when family and friends can gather.
