Willard F. “Bill” Caron, age 85, of Valley View Drive for the past 54 years, passed away at home on April 16, 2020, accompanied by family. He was born in 1934 in Brockton, Mass. He was the son of Phillippe Edgar Raoul Caron and Minnie (Snell) Caron. He was predeceased by his brother Edgar Caron and sister Estelle Caron. He was the beloved husband of Virginia (Call) Caron in 1956, a marriage that lasted 64 years. He is survived by his children Scott and his wife Pam in Smithfield, Glenn in Salt Lake City, UT, and Christopher in Quincy, MA, Julie McCarthy and her husband Patrick in Palm Bay, FL, and Noel Young and her husband Jeremy in North Andover, MA, as well as 13 grandchildren and 9 great-children.
He attended the Bentley School of Accounting, then transferred to Bryant University in Smithfield earning a BA degree in Accounting, graduating in 1983. He worked for Poly-top Corporation as the Controller for 20 years. He also held similar positions for International Data Sciences as well as a plumbing contractor in North Providence before fully retiring.
He was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where served as Bishop of the Scituate RI Ward for five years.
He also served as a Naval Reservist at the South Weymouth Naval Air Station in MA for 14 years, starting in 1954, narrowly missing being sent to Korea during that country’s conflict. He also served as a Scoutmaster in Scituate through the LDS church.
As a result of his military experience, Bill was a huge fan of the annual Air Show held at Quonset Point every year. He enjoyed taking his family camping on many cross-country camping trips to many of our fifty states. He was also an avid book reader. He especially enjoyed citing his rendition of The Grinch who Stole Christmas to his children and grandchildren every year. He was also an loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
