CHICOPEE – Rene J. Carbonneau, 90, of Armbrook Village in Westfield and a longtime resident of Quartus Street in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at Armbrook Village tragically from the COVID-19 virus surrounded by the care and comfort of his wonderful caregivers and all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on June 10, 1929, a beloved son of the late Joseph C. and Germaine (Melancon) Carbonneau. He was raised in Holyoke, lived in Biddeford, Maine, then moved to the Willimansett section of Chicopee in 1954 where he lived until moving to Westfield in 2006. He was a mechanic at the former Nash Rambler Dealership in Holyoke, and retired as a truck mechanic at the former Dreikorn’s Bakery in Holyoke. Following his retirement, he was a longtime assistant and driver at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Funeral Chapels in Chicopee and Springfield. He was a member of the Fairview Knights of Columbus Council 4044 in Chicopee and the Chicopee Lodge of Elks. Rene was an avid bowler, loved hitting the links at many of the local golf courses, and was always up to a good game of cards, especially playing cribbage. Above all, he was a quiet man who enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Theresa L. (Marquis) Carbonneau. They were married on June 4, 1949 at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke and enjoyed 54 years of happiness together. He leaves his two loving daughters, Janet E. Cisek and her husband, Ronald, of Westfield and Gail P. Beyard-King of Dover, DE; his loving daughter-in-law, Cynthia Carbonneau of Springfield; his six cherished grandchildren, Jason Cisek and his wife, Carol, Kara Cisek, Brian Beyard, Jonathan Karas and his wife, Erin, Kellie Mack and her husband, Jemar, and Jaclyn Robinson and her husband, Ronald; his seven cherished great grandchildren, Lauren Cisek, Samantha Conner, Kayla Karas, Logan Karas, Aliyanna Mack, Justice Isaiah Mack, and Olivia Robinson; his dear brother-in-law, Paul Abert of Holyoke; his dear sister-in-law, Constance Bissonnette of Dade City, FL; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends, and extended members of the Carbonneau and Marquis families. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his loving son-in-law, Michael A. King; his dear brother, Normand Carbonneau; and his dear sister, Constance Abert. His funeral services and burial will be held at a later date.
