Dan Joseph James, age 73, passed away on April 19, 2020, due to COVID-19 after battling multiple chronic health conditions.
He was born in Anderson, Indiana, on March 7, 1947 and graduated from Highland High School in 1965. He attended Ball State University, and then went on to work at Guide Lamp in Supervision until his disability. Dan was an avid golfer, loved all sports, and was a friend to everyone. Despite battling health issues for nearly 30 years, he left a lasting impression on his doctors, therapists, nurses, and fellow patients with his positive attitude and smile. He was proud of his family and loved bragging on their accomplishments.
Dan is survived by his wife of 41 years, Dana (Austin) James, and five children, Brent (Sandy) Keesling of Avon, Indiana; Heather (Todd) Driggers of Gilbert, Arizona; Gannon (Anne) Shelton of Columbia City, Indiana; Adam (Stephanie) Shelton of Waterville, Ohio; and Natasha (Joe) Becraft of Anderson, Indiana. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Natalie and Makenna Keesling; Ross, Ryan, and Tyler Baker; Landon, Chaille, and Micah Driggers; Whitney and Caroline Shelton; Joshua and Ryan Shelton; and Madysen and Tyler Becraft. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Billie James, and his sister Karen Cockerham.
Graveside services will be done privately for immediate family at a future date.
