Joseph Oliveira, Jr., 84, of Bridgewater died Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Good Samaritan Medical Center after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Alice V. (Farrell) Oliveira; they were married for 33 years.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph Oliveira and Alice (Baptiste) Oliveira Silva, he lived in New Bedford for many years until moving to Bridgewater over 30 years ago.
Joseph proudly served in the United States Air Force for 21 years.
He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Class of 1953 and later received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and his Master's Degree from Assumption College.
Joseph was employed as a case worker for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health for many years until his retirement.
He was an avid skier and tennis player and enjoyed traveling, especially to Portugal, Canada, and Cape Verde.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; two sisters, Rosie Conceicao and Anne Tavares; his granddaughter, Emily Neuburger; two stepchildren, Miguel Souza and Jacinta Tapalian; his former spouse, Bebe Oliveira; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughters, Donna Oliveira and Patricia Neuburger, and his stepfather, John Silva.
