William David “Billy” Zorn, Sr., 79, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Sunday, April 19, 2020, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Private graveside services will be held.
Mr. Zorn was born December 13, 1940, in Irwinville, Georgia, to the late Emmette Harvey Zorn, Sr. and the late Margaret Ponder Zorn. He was a graduate of Irwin County High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Mr. Zorn retired from Robins Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic and was also a farmer. He operated Billy Zorn’s Residential Maintenance as well. He was a Mason with Irwinville Lodge #315 and was a member of the Woodmen of the World, Irwinville Camp. He was very proud of his service to this area as an Irwin County Commissioner for 8 years for District 1. He loved to hunt and fish and was a member of Irwinville United Methodist Church, where he served on the Administrative Council.
He is survived by his children: William David “Bill” Zorn, Jr. and his fiancé, Stacey Haston of Honea Path, South Carolina, LaTacha Ann Zorn Chambers of Ocilla, and Jorjanne & Chris Paulk of Ocilla; grandchildren: Brandon Anthony Chambers, Jade Kiera Zorn, Tori Danielle Chambers, Jasmine Kai Zorn, Kasey Brianna Chambers, Seth Christopher Paulk, Caleb William Paulk, and Perry Jacob Paulk; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Legette & Ann Zorn of Asheville, North Carolina; and a sister, Betty Laminack of Irwin County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marty Young and Maezie Lawrence; and a brother, Emmett Harvey Zorn, Jr.
