Helen Agnes (Daly) Simpson Hart, 97, passed away peacefully at Mt Carmel Nursing Home in Manchester, NH on April 18, 2020. Helen was born in Newton, MA in 1922. Raised in Roslindale, MA, she graduated with honors from Roslindale High School in 1940.
Her best friend from high school had a cousin returning from overseas duty in 1944 and invited Helen to a ‘Welcome Home’ party. It was there that she met her future husband.
Widowed at an early age, she ran for the position of Town Clerk in Plaistow, NH, and won, a position she held successfully, for thirty years.
She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Although she had to wait eighty two years, her beloved Red Sox finally won the World Series in her lifetime in 2004. She was a communicant of St Jude Parish in Londonderry, NH.
She was predeceased by her first husband, John A Simpson, her second husband, David C Hart, her daughter Elaine M (Simpson) Codding, her son-in-law David W Codding and son John W Simpson.
She is survived by her three sons, Thomas E R Simpson and wife Joanne of Hampstead, NH, Robert E Simpson and wife Carol, of Londonderry, NH and Stephen A Simpson, of St Augustine, FL, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a memorial funeral Mass will be held at a later date at St Jude Parish in Londonderry, NH. Burial will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Peabody Funeral Home, 290 Mammoth Rd in Londonderry, NH. Donations may be made to the ALS Association, 1275 K Street NW, Suite 250, Washington, DC 20005.
