Obituary

Joyce M. Curtin 77, of Raynham, MA passed away unexpectedly Friday April 17, 2020 at her home.

Born September 13, 1942 in Lynn, MA, the daughter of the late James O. and Marguerite (Murphy) Curtin. She was a former resident of North Andover, MA and Norristown, PA, near Philadelphia, before moving to Raynham, MA in 2010.

Raised and educated in North Andover, she graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Nashua, New Hampshire as a Registered Nurse. She then attended the Medical College of Philadelphia and received her bachelor’s degree in acute care.
Joyce’s passion was nursing, working in numerous capacities in hospitals, in rehabilitation centers and, later in her career, as a consulting hospital administrator. She loved her work in geriatric, rehabilitation and psychiatric specialties. Joyce was an exceptional and compassionate professional in a career spanning more than 50 years. Her patients always came first.

She was proud of her Irish Heritage and enjoyed her annual St. Patrick’s Day party where she corned her own beef. Her parties were legendary for delicious cuisine and great hospitality. Joyce loved to travel, especially to Italy, and made many friends wherever she went. She was a member of the Aqua Sisters from the Raynham Athletic Club, where she took exercise classes.

A proud Mom, she is survived by her daughters, Kathleen A. Lambert and her late partner Margaret G. Votta of Haverhill, MA, Nancy M. Willey and her husband Michael of Franklin, MA and Gail L. Brown and her husband Glenn of Georgia.

Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren, Madelynne G. Brown, Angelina R. Willey, Elijah R. Brown and Jeremiah M. Brown. She was the sister of the late John “Jack” Curtin.

Due to Covid-19 (Coronavirus) and restrictions on public gatherings, a private graveside service followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Newburyport, MA will be held later. A memorial mass followed by a celebration of Joyce’s life will be announced later this year.
