Obituary

Rose M. (Picoraro) Brooks, a longtime resident of Charlestown and formerly of Brockton, entered into eternal life on Friday, April 17, 2020 at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford. She was 95 years of age.

Rose was born in Brockton on February 25, 1925, a daughter of the late Antonio Picoraro and Mary (Nardelli) Picoraro. She grew up in Brockton where she was educated in the Brockton Public School system and graduated from Brockton High School in 1943. Rose worked as a Clerk for the United States Government early in her career before working for Bank of Boston for over 20 years. She enjoyed gardening and traveling to Hawaii every year. She loved her family most of all.

Rose is the beloved wife of the late retired Boston Firefighter Alonzo P. Brooks Jr. She is the devoted mother of Eleanor Haynie of Medford, and retired Boston Firefighter Richard Brooks and his wife Ellen of Billerica. She is the loving Grandma to Jennifer Haynie and her partner Daniel Willis, Richard Brooks Jr., Michael Brooks and his wife Michelle, Corey Brooks and her great-granddaughter Lillian Grace Brooks. She is the beloved sister of Joseph Picoraro and his wife Helen, and the late Eleanor Scarbrough and her husband Roland and Andrew Picoraro. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
