DORIS ELIZABETH (Kender) POTVIN of Coventry, Rhode Island left us in a spirit of love on April 6, 2020 just 10 days before her 90th birthday. Living a loving and fulfilling life, she was the beloved wife of Andrew Potvin for almost 70 years. Doris was born in Hopkinton, Rhode Island to the late John and Ella (Noyes) Kender. Doris lived her life devoted to her relationship with God and is now safe in the arms of her loving Savior Jesus Christ for all eternity. We take much comfort in knowing that she is now free and dancing in heaven with the Lord. She was a faithful member of Cornerstone Church of Warwick, Rhode Island.
Family was the most important thing in Doris’ life. Whenever she was around family she was full of joy and happiness. She worked hard and found enjoyment in raising her six children as well as playing a large role in helping raise and care for many of her grandchildren. Family was her greatest delight. The countless sleepovers, pool parties, her famous finger sandwiches, and Easter egg hunts, Gram made every moment with her grandchildren special. Her love and dedication were extraordinary and everlasting. She had a kind heart and a beautiful soul. Doris was selfless. She would do anything for her family and expect nothing in return. In her later years, the highlights of her days were visits from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time chatting and looking at pictures, and took pride in all her family’s accomplishments. Doris was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
Doris is survived by her loyal and devoted husband, Andrew Potvin and her children; Leonard Potvin (Theresa) of Warwick, Dennis Potvin of West Hollywood, California, Kenneth Potvin (Joanne) of Cranston, Karen Varney of Narragansett, Mary Gribbin (Teddy) of Coventry, and Timothy Potvin also of Coventry. Loving grandmother to Kelly, Jason, Lauren, Jamie, Joshua, Ryan, Jacob, Andrew, Alyssa, Ethan and great-grandmother to Haley, Colton, Keagan, Brady, Lyla, Rowan, and Everett.
A special thank you to her caregiver Heather Cassity. Doris and Heather developed a special bond and friendship that brought her deep comfort and companionship in her last few years of life here on earth.
A memorial service and celebration of Doris’ life will be scheduled when the current health crisis subsides.
