Betty Lu Gribben, 98, long time Anderson resident, passed away on April 14, 2020 at Bethany Pointe Healthcare in Anderson.
She was born on May 29, 1921 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Ebeart J. and Ruth Marie (Buck) Ries. She lived in Richmond, IN, during her childhood and moved to Angola, IN, graduating from Angola High School in 1939. She attended Indiana State College preceding WWII. In 1945, she married Bruce D. Gribben, lived in W. Lafayette, IN, and in 1949, moved to Anderson, IN, where she was a homemaker and a well-known volunteer in the Anderson Community. Betty had been an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mid-Century Club, Tri-Kappa Sorority and Friends of the Library.
She is survived by her two children: Lizann Gibson of Atlanta, Georgia, and David Gribben of Anderson; three grandchildren - Hope Russell of Anderson, Ann Elizabeth (Scott) Busch of Atlanta, Georgia, and James William (Donna) Gibson of Rhode Island; four great grandchildren, Tess and Bruce Gibson, and Claire and Audrey Busch.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bruce D. Gribben in 1984.
A memorial service to celebrate Betty's life will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday July 14, 2020 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
Memorial Contributions may be given to First Presbyterian Church in Anderson or the Animal Protection League.
