Donald L. Houle, 79, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday April 10, 2020. He was the husband of the late Deborah J. (Andrews) Houle.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Leo and Loretta (Marchessault) Houle, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life. He was a graduate of St. Anthony's High School.
Donald was the proprietor of Vander Electric Company in New Bedford for many years. He was currently working as an administrative assistant at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, where he had been involved in various parish activities and ministries throughout the years.
He enjoyed decorating, gardening, eating out and shopping, and traveling to Martha's Vineyard.
He is survived by his brother, Raymond Houle and his wife Valerie; his sister, Janet Gawthrope; his "second sister" Maureen Magan; his mother-in-law, Rita Andrews; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Houle; his lifelong friends, Eugene and Jeanine Sasseville; and a niece and several nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Paul Houle.
Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, a private family burial service will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at a later date.
