Melody Jane Mitchell, 53, of Rochelle, Georgia, passed away Monday, April 13, 2020, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Mitchell was born September 8, 1966, in Bartow, Florida, to Mary Ann Moody Sanders of Fitzgerald and the late Billy Lee Sanders. She enjoyed shopping, making matching t-shirts for her family when they took trips and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Holidays were always special and she enjoyed cooking and naming her meals to add excitement for the children. Mrs. Mitchell was a strong loving wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Calvin Mitchell of Rochelle; her children: Heather Lutril Garcia of Fitzgerald, Jessica Leigh Mitchell of Albany, Rebecca Shurie Mitchell of Mary Esther, Florida, Calvin Lee Mitchell, Jr. & Samantha of Fitzgerald and Keegan Blake Mitchell of Rochelle; 18 grandchildren; brothers: Wilburn Lee Sanders of Fitzgerald, Billy Wayne Sanders of Fitzgerald, Donald Sanders of Cairo and Michael Sanders of Fitzgerald; sisters: Annie Watts of Cairo, Reber & Jimmy Byrd of Ocilla, Christy Dietzel of Columbus and Eva Mae Sanders of Fitzgerald. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Jackson Cotterman; a brother, Glen Dale “Moody Boy” Sanders and a sister, Sheila Sheppard.
