New Bedford – Ana Maria (Vieira) Machado, age 79, of New Bedford passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020 at Hathaway Manor. She was the beloved wife of the late Fernando Ferro Machado.
Born in Agua de Pau, St. Michael, Azores, she was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel Vieira and Carolina (Medeiros) Vieira. Ana had moved to this area in 1957, where she worked as a packer for a local seafood company.
She is survived by her children, John Manuel Machado of New Bedford, Patricia Ann Marques of New Bedford, Eduarda M. Baeta of Dartmouth, Fernando Machado of New Bedford, Ann-Marie Desorcy of Dartmouth and Angie Marie Machado of Dartmouth; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Armanda Amaral of East Providence, Jose Vieira of Dartmouth, Maria dos Anjos Costa of Dartmouth, Maria Gabriela Medeiros of New Bedford, Delores Torres of New Bedford, Hermano Vieira of New Bedford, Caroline Torres of Dartmouth and Manuel Vieira of New Bedford; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ana’s funeral services will be private due to the recent mandated restrictions in regards to the Covid-19 Pandemic. A Mass will be held at a later date. Please check back on our website for the update. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during this very difficult time.
