Reggio J. "Randy" Randazza, a longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at his home in Charlestown. He was 96 years of age.
Randy was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania on October 10, 1923, a son of the late Enrico Randazza and Virginia (Russo) Randazza. He grew up in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where he was educated throughout their public school system. Randy enlisted into the United States Navy on April 24, 1944 and served his country with courage and pride during Word War II. He was honorably discharged on November 24, 1946 with the rank of Coxswain. He then re-enlisted into the United States Navy on November 21, 1947 and was honorably discharged on February 3, 1950 with the rank of Seaman. Randy worked as a Shipper and Receiver for U.S. Gypsum Company, Boston Paper Company and Century Paper Company for many years. He was the former custodian and original resident at Constitution Co-Op located at 42 Park St. in Charlestown. He is a member of the Charlestown American Legion Post # 26. He enjoyed playing bingo, shuffleboard, corn hole, horseshoes and ping pong in his spare time. He also enjoyed traveling to Ft. Myers in Florida with his family who he cherished each and every day and was so proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their individual accomplishments .
Randy is the beloved husband of the late Marguerite M. (Hartman) Randazza. He is the devoted father of James Randazza and his wife Mary, Marlene Fitzpatrick and her husband Joe, Joseph Randazza and his wife Kimberly, Penny Gentile and her husband Jerry and the late Nancy Randazza, Marion Randazza, Paula Randazza and Theresa Randazza. He is the loving Papa to Jimmy, Jeff, Elaine, Emma, Hayley, Abigail, Kathleen, Joseph, the late Alex and his great-grandchildren Jessica, Jimmy, Olivia, Jeffrey, Camden and Avery. He is the beloved brother of Jane Durkoski, Joseph Randazza, Frank Randazza and Samuel Randazza.
Memorial donations maybe made in Randy's name to his grandsons scholarship fund, Alex Gentile Memorial Scholarship Fund, 30 Holloway St. Malden, Mass. 02148.
GIVEN THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS AND THE CITY OF BOSTON PUBLIC GATHERING MANDATES FOR THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, RANDY'S FUNERAL SERVICE AND BURIAL AT WOODLAWN CEMETERY IN EVERETT WILL BE PRIVATE.
A memorial mass and celebration of Randy's life will be announced at a later date.
