Obituary

Marjorie R. (Overlan) Rauseo
1926-2020

RAUSEO, Marjorie “Marge” Rita (OVERLAN). Of Tewksbury, at 93 years of age. Passed away on April 10, 2020 in Billerica from natural causes. Beloved wife of 72 years to Donald A. Rauseo. Daughter of the late Walter and Margaret Overlan. Loving mother of Richard and his wife Joan (Marion) of Coarsegold CA; Robert and his wife Mary Kay (Baggs), James and his wife Deborah (Snook), the late Kenneth and his wife Patricia (Trainor), and Keith and his wife Maura (Carr), all of Tewksbury. Cherished sister of Patricia (Overlan) McLaughlin and her husband Stephen of Dracut. Devoted grandmother of Sherry and her husband Nicolas Fiore; Nicole and her husband Stffan Zwirek; Thomas and his wife Jessica; Julie; Joseph; Sheila and her husband Nicolas Christian; Jefferson and his wife Coryana; Matthew; and Benjamin. Dear great-grandmother of Emma, Cordelia, Hunter, and Max. Treasured aunt of John McLaughlin and Karen (McLaughlin) Mercado and her husband Michael.

Marjorie was born in Everett on Christmas Eve 1926, graduated from Everett High School in 1944, and married Don in 1947. They lived in Everett and Malden before moving to Tewksbury in 1955. She was active in the St. Williams Church Sodality and Tewksbury Youth Baseball Ladies Auxiliary. She worked as a payroll supervisor at Tewksbury State Hospital and Wang Laboratories. After retirement she and Don embarked on a 25-year “pleasure cruise” of traveling between their homes in Milton NH, Groveland FL, and with Richard and Joan in California, with Marjorie doing most of the driving. They also made trips to Hawaii and Europe. She loved her summers on the lake in Milton, surrounded by the grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the joy of her life. She was happiest on her screened porch; knitting, crocheting, or doing crosswords; and watching the loons, ducks, and hummingbirds while the kids were swimming. She enjoyed baking and cooking, keeping meticulous family books, and buying Christmas presents.

A benefit of a long life is the chance to make enduring friendships, and Marge and Don were blessed in this regard, especially by Gerry and George Hemeon, their friends for seven decades, and Pegge and Frank Heidenrich, with whom they shared travels, North Shore Music Theater shows, and weekends at Hampton Beach throughout a sixty-year relationship.

At the end of her life Marjorie received warm and loving care from the staff at Wellspring Village/Brightview Concord River and Hospice Services of Massachusetts.

Immediate services will be private due to current restrictions, and interment will be at Tewksbury Cemetery. A funeral Mass will be scheduled later in the year. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham MA 02452 (alz.org) or to a charity of one’s choice.
