William K. “Billy” McGoff, passed away peacefully and courageously on April 10, 2020, after a brief illness. He was 61 years of age.
Billy was born in Charlestown on February 25, 1959, the son of the late Daniel B. McGoff and Alice E. (Kirk) McGoff. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in Boston Public schools and graduated from Charlestown High in 1976. He was an Electrician by trade and worked for Raytheon Corporation and most recently, the Massachusetts General Hospital. Billy raised his family in Squantum, a place he was proud to call home. He enjoyed the simple things, sports, music, and times with friends. He loved all things Disney and Superman. He was devoted family man, who liked to take family trips to Disney World and spend time with his wife and kids. Billy went on to show his true colors when after a life changing accident over 12 years ago, where many would have given up, He lived on courageously and optimistically, always with a smile on his face and hope in his heart. He was a true inspiration to the entire family and will be greatly missed by all.
Billy was the devoted husband of the late Taryn C. (Muise) McGoff. He was the father of Conor D. McGoff and his wife Chelsey, and Brenna C. (McGoff) Woods and her wife Jess. He is the proud loving Grampa to Simon Woods. He is the beloved brother of the late Daniel McGoff and his wife Doris, Lisa (McGoff) Collins and her husband John, Kevin McGoff and his wife Lisa, Thomas McGoff and his wife Peggy, Robin (McGoff) Chiampa and her husband Matt, and Robert McGoff and his wife Annmarie. He is survived by many loving aunts, uncles’ cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, including his roommate Roger.
The family extends their gratitude to the wonderful caring staff of the North End Rehabilitation Center and the Massachusetts General Hospital who cared for him until the end. We would also like to thank the Anthony’s Dream Committee for all the support and generosity they extended to Billy throughout the years.
