Obituary

Jose (Joe) Eduardo Pacheco Sousa, 52, of Fall River passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 6, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Sandra DaSilva for 27 years and Devoted father to Joseph N Sousa. Joe was born on October 21, 1967 in Sao Miguel, Azores to Eduardo Pacheco Sousa and Diamantina Sousa (Cafua). Joe was raised in New Bedford in his childhood but lived in Fall River with wife and son. He was honored to have been a fisherman in his life as many were in his family.

Joe was an AMAZINGLY strong Man, Son and Father. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, working on any electronics, cars and spending time with family. He loved his FAMILY immensely, lived for them and would drop everything to go to help them. His enjoyment in life was being a DAD and spending time with his treasured son The light of his life. He was a diehard New England Patriots fan and a season ticket holder.

He will be remembered for his generous big heart, which showed to all he encountered in this LIFE. His beautiful generous smile and his willingness to help fellow people, friends and neighbors at any time of day or night with just a pay it forward request. In his later years when combination of many health issues robbed him of his strength and stamina, but he still tried to stay strong for family and friends in his quiet pain daily. During his life and all trials and tribulations he taught us LOVE and PATIENCE and allowed us to show him the same.

The family wishes to thank the many doctors, nurses and hospital staff past and present who allowed Joe to have somewhat of normal life. There are so many from Boston to Fall River and we can’t thank you enough of the LOVE you showed him. The time you took during and after your shifts to sit, talk or care for him did not go unnoticed. A special thanks to Dr. Joseph Upton and staff at Franciscan Children’s in Boston who took a little boy and gave him the ability physically and mentally to be an AMAZINGLY strong Man, Son and Father. He was resilient in all that life placed in front of him and it showed.

His memory will be cherished and kept alive by wife Sandra DaSilva, beloved Son Joseph Sousa and family. Besides his wife and son, he is survived by his Sister Ana Medeiros of Fall River; 3 nieces: Grace Madeira, Christina DeOliveira, Cindy Oliveira and their children; 6 Nephews: Eduardo J Madeira, Stephen Madeira, Jose Madeira, Ricky Madeira and Jason Medeiros of Fall River and Kevin Medeiros of California and all their children as well as many cousins all over the United States. Joe is preceded in death by his parents Eduardo Pacheco Sousa and Diamantina Sousa (Cafua); as well as his sister Theresa Sousa
