Frederick Allen Carpenter, 82, of Anderson, died April 9, 2020 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus after an extended illness.
He was born November 11, 1937 in Spencer, West Virginia, the son of Frederick and Eunice (Miller) Carpenter. He received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Anderson University and his master's degree in psychology from University of Missouri Columbia. He worked as a Psychologist and in Human Resources at Caterpillar in East Peoria, Illinois for 35 years before retiring in 2001. He attended Tremont Baptist Church in Tremont, Illinois and Grace Baptist Church in Anderson. He was a very devoted husband and father. He loved antique cars and was interested in photography, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha (Hardacre) Carpenter of Anderson whom he married June 21, 1959 in New Castle, IN; sons Paul (Renee) Carpenter of Mapleton, IL; Scott Carpenter of Anderson and daughter, Amy Anderson of Anderson; brother, Everett (Susan) Carpenter of Wichita, Kansas; sister, GiGi Rammling of Ellicott City, Maryland; nephew, Chris (Marne) Rammling of Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private graveside services will be held with burial in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the nursing scholarship fund at Anderson University.
