New Bedford – Erundina (Alves) Ventura, age 84, of New Bedford passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home.
Born in Flores, Azores, she was the beloved daughter of the late Gilberto and Emilia (Silveira) Alves. She had been a stitcher for Arlene’s Fashions for many years.
Dina loved cooking and praying for others, spending time with her family; especially her great-grandkids. When with family, she was always laughing or had a big smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted mother and grandmother, always thinking of others first. To know her was to love her.
She is survived by her daughters, Maria DaSilva and Arlette Cardoso and her husband, Adalberto; 3 grandchildren, Krystal L. Cardoso and her companion Alex Howland, Adalberto T. Cardoso, Jr. aka “Junior” and his wife Molly and Tabatha L. Cook and her husband Zachary; great-grandchildren, Kenley R. Cook, Parker Z. Cook, Declyn R. Cardoso and Kylee R. Howland; siblings, Ilda Armas, John Alves and Fatima Triguerio. She was also the sister of the late, Jose Alves, Maria Rodrigues, Gilberto Alves, Lino Alves, Anastacio Alves and Adelaide Dias.
Erundina’s funeral services will be private due to the recent mandated restrictions in regards to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during this very difficult time.
