Obituary

Marilyn (Heywood) Bissonnette, 73, of Fairhaven died Thursday April 2, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of Jay F. Bissonnette, who passed away three hours later the same day.

Born in Acushnet, the daughter of the late Kershaw and Ann (Cawley) Heywood, she lived in this area all her life and resided in Fairhaven since 1985.

Mrs. Bissonnette was employed by Compass Bank for 28 years, retiring in 2004 when the bank was sold. She also was the bookkeeper for the New Bedford Port Society for about 30 years.

She was a lifelong member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild for more than 40 years, was Treasurer of "Special Programs" and was a member of the Women's Group.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lee D. and Paula J. (Lorenz) Bissonnette of Fairhaven; two beloved granddaughters, Ava Marie Bissonnette and Carlee Jean Bissonnette of Fairhaven; two sisters, Susan M. Abraham and her husband Peter of North Attleboro, and Janet Bouchard of Acushnet; her sister-in-law, Debra Bissonnette and her partner Leslie Lopes; her brother-in-law, Andrew J. Woodacre and his wife Dianne; two Godchildren, Megan K. Dougan and Timothy J. Gifford; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, a private family memorial service will be held. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Donations in her memory, may be made to the Memorial Fund, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 169 Belleville Road, New Bedford, MA 02745.
