Dr. I. Jeffrey Ptaschnik, 76

Dr. I. Jeffrey Ptaschnik, age 76, of Mansfield, MA, passed away peacefully with his family on April 6th at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA.
Jeff was born & raised in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of Herman and Gussie (Podolsky) Ptaschnik of Brooklyn, NY (both deceased), beloved husband of Sandra Ptaschnik (43 years) of Mansfield, MA and amazing father to Jennifer (Ptaschnik) & husband Kevin Walker of Goodlettsville, TN and Michael Ptaschnik of Mansfield, MA. Jeff also leaves his cherished granddaughter Kaitlyn Walker of Goodlettsville, TN and his 2 fur grandkids Whisper and Cooper, his 1st Junior passed away in 2016. Jeff also leaves his sister-in-law Lauren Meadows (FL) and Niece Lindsay Paiz & Family (VA) along with multiple cousins and best friends/Fraternity brothers Roger Rubin (MD) and Daniel Siedman (NY).
Jeff was loved by so many and has had some very close friends over the years.
Jeff attended James Madison High School class of 1961 (he graduated in 3.5 years) where he was the President of his Fraternity Alpha Phi Pi. He went on to get his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology & Anthropology from Brooklyn College class of 1965 where he was President of the Sociology Society & President of the Saxon House social organization (house plan). Jeff went on to get his Doctorate of Philosophy in Education which he started at Pennsylvania State University in 1965 and completed his degree at University of Pittsburgh class of 1971. Although he went to school for education, Jeff had a big interest in Financial Services.
After graduating, Jeff was an Education Administrator in the Erie, NY school system. Then in 1976 he became the Assistant Superintendent of the Mansfield school system. Jeff was the leader in bringing the Bristol Community College to Attleboro Falls. He also brought a Framingham State University satellite campus to Mansfield High School.
Jeff spent most of his career as a Financial Planner for IDS then American Express. Most recently he was teaching computer classes at the council on aging in both Mansfield & Attleboro.
Jeff was an active member of the Mansfield Lions Club including their annual penny sale. He was on the Board of Trustees for the Mansfield Public Library. Jeff was also a member of the Finance committee for the town of Mansfield. He enjoyed counting attendance at the annual town meetings.
Jeff loved trivia, music, fashion and playing cards. He also possessed many leadership skills. In the past Jeff had collections of books, records, coins and hosted a weekly neighborhood poker game. He adored his family and celebrating their many accomplishments by printing pictures and making scrapbooks. Jeff enjoyed attending his children’s games and other activities they were involved in. He loved all of the family pets; Freddie, Benjamin, Cocoa & Snickers. Jeff absolutely loved being a grandfather.
