Paul P. Brogan, Sr. a life-long Medford resident passed away peacefully at the Melrose – Wakefield Hospital on Sunday. He was 89. The son of the late William J. and Maude M (Lucia) Brogan, Paul served in the US Navy after his graduation from high school. He served in the years between World War II and Korea, and on several occasions passed through the Panama Canal. After his discharge, he worked for the City of Medford throughout his career. Proud of his brief stint with the Medford Fire Department, Paul worked primarily in the Water Department. He was most proud of the fact that five generations of his family worked in the Public Works Department, beginning with his grandfather who drove a horse-team to clear the roads of snow in North Medford. Paul was also very pleased to exercise his role as a grandfather and loved to be with his family and friends. He was also known for his ability to find a bargain, especially at the flea-market.
The beloved father of Paul P. Brogan, Jr. of Connecticut, Michael Brogan and his wife Lisa of N. Reading, Stephen Brogan and his wife Dolores of Medford, Dawn Colameta and her husband Philip of Everett, and Scott Brogan of Abington. He was a loving grandfather to Paul III, Jason, Michael, Amanda, Hannah, Sean, Ashley, Thomas, Daniel, Lynsie, Haylie, Deanna, Kayla, Timothy and Jennifer as well as many great grandchildren. He was a dear brother of the late Ruth, Loretta, Mary, John, Thomas, Arthur, William and Richard. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Services are private and a burial will be announced for a future date.
The Brogan family is very grateful for the expert care and many kindnesses shown by the nurses and staff at the Melrose- Wakefield Hospital.
