Obituary

Andover MA,

Paul Cheney, 70, Passed away on the morning of April 1st suddenly at home in the comfort of his sons arms. Paul was predeceased by his father Paul William Cheney of Winthrop, his mother Gertrude Lillie Muise of East Boston, his sister Frances Cheney Keith and his half sister, Michelle “Sugie” Emmett of East Boston. He is also survived by his Step Sisters, Kathleen Hanlon of East Boston and Theresa LaPointe and Patricia Bouvier of Saco Maine

He was raised in East Boston and attended East Boston High School, graduating with the class of 1968. In his senior year Paul enlisted in the US Navy Submarine Service as a reservist; after graduating, Paul moved to New London, Connecticut to board the USS Entemedor (SS-340) where he continued his naval service. Before being honorably discharged, Paul proudly earned the rank of quarter master first class, as well as achieving his Submarine Specialist dolphins. To Paul, this was one of his greatest achievements. He continued as a reservist on the USS Constitution until his final retirement in Quincy during the early 90's

After some time with the navy, Paul decided to pursue higher education while working full time. Paul went on to earn a Associates Degree in Science from North Eastern University in 1978; and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science with honors from North Eastern University in 1982. After graduating from North Eastern, Paul attended Riviera College where he earned his Master of Business Administration. Paul's professional life consisted of working for various companies such as Fisons Pharmaceuticals, IBM and Siemens where he excelled in his management roles.

Paul fought his battles with addiction and went through the recovery program at the VA. Once he took control of his addiction he decided he wanted to help those who shared his struggles and became a peer support specialist at the VA. This in itself was a source of therapy for Paul and gave him a greater sense of purpose after his recovery.

Paul enjoyed the simple things in life, whether is was sailing in his youth, working around the house and spending time with his family. His quick-witted sense of humor and his calm, level-headed attitude will be missed dearly by all.

Paul was survived by his wife Corinne, son Matthew, his daughter Rachel and her son Blake. As well as his sisters family, Maureen and Bill Graves of Delaware and Chris Graves and Kathleen and Alvin Sobrinho of Maryland. As well as survived by his godson Dr. Vincent Champion.
