Robert P. “ Oakie” O’Neill, a 45 year resident of Malden and formerly of Charlestown, passed away after a lengthy illness on April 3, 2020. He was 75 years of age.
Bob was a longtime member of the Irish American and was involved in Malden Youth Hockey and Malden Youth Soccer. He was a friend to all and the life of the party. Bob will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Bob is survived by his wife Patricia (Rexford) O'Neill of Tewksbury. He is the devoted father of Eileen O’Neill of Waltham, Brian O’Neill and his wife Angela of Wilmington, and Bobby O’Neill and his wife Tracy of Billerica. He is the loving grandfather of Camryn, Tommy, Mallory, and Charlie O’Neill.
He is the dear brother of Eleanor Collins and her late husband John of Hingham, Mary O’Neill of Charlestown, Patricia Meeker and her late husband Jack of Wilmington, Rita Murphy and her husband Bill of Quincy, Ann Marie Harding and her husband John of Ashland, the late Gene O’Neill and his late wife Peggy of Charlestown, and the late Margaret Kent and her late husband Joe of Charlestown. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.
GIVEN THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS AND THE CITY OF BOSTON PUBLIC GATHERING MANDATES FOR THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, BOB'S FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE PRIVATE.
A Memorial Mass and a celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.
