Dennis Michael McCarthy, 68, of Franklin , died April 2 in Milford Regional Hospital. He was the husband of the late Paula M. (Vendetti) McCarthy who died in 2009.
Born in Milford, September 30, 1951, the son of the late Francis and Dorothy (Kaufman) McCarthy, Dennis was a lifelong Franklin resident.
Dennis had owned and operated the Dennis M. McCarthy Excavating Company in Franklin for many years.
He had formerly worked for the Franklin D.P. W.
Dennis was a motorcycle enthusiast, and enjoyed trips to the casino, going to the Franklin Elks Club and “ sitting on the bench” at the West Central Honey Dew Donut Shop.
Mr. McCarthy served in the Army during the Vietnam War attaining the rank of Specialist 4th Class.
He is survived by his Aunts Beverly Carroll and Shirley Petitt of Franklin.
He is also survived by his devoted companion Patti Wyllie of Franklin and many friends in the Franklin area.
His graveside services will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
A celebration of Dennis’s life will be held later.
