Joan
Passed away on April 2, 2020 at her home in Maplewood, Minnesota surrounded by loved ones. Joan was born on February 1, 1948. A lifelong resident of St Paul, she graduated from Harding High School in 1966 and worked for 43 years at Bethesda Hospital in the Rehabilitation Department, where she made many lasting friendships. Her two greatest passions were her family and helping those in need. Joan spent nearly every moment of her life serving others, whether it be taking care of her children and grandchildren, or volunteering her time at rehabilitation centers and nursing homes. She loved the outdoors and kept an active lifestyle, walking, hiking, gardening, and traveling whenever and wherever she could. An avid rockhound, she enjoyed taking trips to the north shore to search for agates and had amassed quite a collection of various minerals. Joan loved to find a good bargain which frequently led to “just because” gifts. She was rarely seen without a drink from a coffee shop, which for her was a daily essential. She will be dearly missed. Joan joins her parents, Jack and Dolores Kunz, in heaven and is survived by her ex-husband Edward Tossey; her two children John and Lisa Tossey; her four grandchildren Maly, Edward, Ashley, and Joshua; her five great-grandchildren Amelia, Seryn, Theodore, Evelyn, and Leon; her two sisters Judy and Linda; and her nephew Bradley Kunz. A private ceremony will be held in honor of her memory at a later time.
