Serge Jean Luc Le Gendre of Provincetown passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020. He was 55.
Born in New York City, Serge lived most of his life in New York, but traveled extensively throughout Europe and also lived for a time on the west coast. Summering on Cape Cod with his family since he was born, it was hard for him to stay away from a place that always gave him shelter and peace. Recently he returned to live in Provincetown.
He had a passion for sports, played basketball in college in New Hampshire, and had a short stint as an assistant basketball coach while living in Provincetown. He was an avid reader and developed a love for photography, taking a series of photos of Cape Cod life.
From a very young age it was clear that Serge was not a landlubber. He was most at home on the water with a sailboat tiller in hand sailing into the wind or motoring toward the cove or the lighthouse in Provincetown.
Serge is survived by his twin sons, Milo and Isiah as well as a sister, Monique and her partner Evelina, a brother Darren and his wife Shawn, all of New York, a sister Dina, her husband Ben-Zion and their children in Israel and a brother Ray in Germany. Additionally, many nieces and nephews, along with a very close family of friends in Provincetown, New York, and other parts of the country also survive him. He was predeceased by his mother Hannelore, his father Henri and a sister, Barbara.
A Celebration of Serge’s Life will be held in the fall, at a date and time to be announced.
