Lucy G. Kaine, age 87 of Brockton, died at her home March 29, 2020 under the care of her family and hospice. Lucy was born in Grand Gedeh County, Monrovia, Liberia, a daughter of the late Quehyah Kaine (Kind) Gbala and Garwo Gaye.
Lucy was raised in Monrovia, Liberia and had been a chef at the CoCo Nest in Totota, Liberia. In 1998 she came to the United States and most recently lived with her daughter Eliza Free-Paygai and her husband Rev Arthur Y. Paygai.
Lucy loved to dress up and entertain. She enjoyed cooking for a crowd and made everyone feel special.
She was the mother of Eliza N. Free-Paygai and her husband Rev. Arthur Y. Paygai of Brockton and the late Francis Waldo, Jr. and Alfonso Duo. Lucy was the sister of the Honorable Bai M. Gbala, Sarwo Gbala (Gordon Miller), the late Consoller David D. Gbala and late Governor Watchen Gbala. She also leaves four grandchildren Teddy CBL Paygai, Charles TR Paygai, D. Artliza Zeesaw Paygai and Watchen Tina Teetee Paygai and three great grandchildren Adriana Eliza Paygai, Teddy B. Paygai, Jr. and Tessa Blessing Paygai.
